LIVE: LOOK AT THE BOOK Opening Reception @ SAC Saturday, February 24/5pm

February 17, 2024:  Southampton Arts Center, 25 Jobs Lane, will host an opening reception for LOOK AT THE BOOK on Saturday, February 24th @5pm.  Curated by Christina M. Strassfield LOOK AT THE BOOK Is a multimedia exhibition that pays homage to “Books.” The exhibition will focus on how contemporary artists have engaged with the book as a surface, structure, found object, philosophical, and literary guide. The works will include various types of books, accordion books, video books and audiobooks, graphic novels, sculpture, photography, and several site-specific installations created with and from books.

Ukraine Fundraiser at The White Room Gallery to aid refugees in the war-torn country.

November 26, 2023: The White Room Gallery hosted a Ukraine Fundraiser at their new home across from the Railroad Station in East Hampton at 3 Railroad Avenue. The event from 6:30 – 8:30 on Saturday featured the works of five Ukrainian artists, which were for sale with 100% of the proceeds going to charity.

SAC will screen the film: POLLOCK on Saturday, November 25 @ 2pm with an introduction by Helen Harrison.

November 21, 2023: Southampton Arts Center, 25 Jobs Lane will screen the acclaimed 2000 film POLLOCK with Ed Harris delivering a remarkable portrayal of the artist. The film is a cinematic experience, which offers a captivating exploration of Pollock’s inner turmoil, artistic process, and the impact he had on the art world. There will be a special introduction by Helen Harrison, director at the Pollock-Krasner House and Study Center, who will provide unique insights into the life and art of Jackson Pollock.

The White Room Gallery will host a UKRAINE FUNDRAISER on Saturday, November 25 from 6:30-8:30pm at their new East Hampton location, 3 Railroad Avenue.

November 18, 2023: The White Room Gallery, now located at 3 Railroad Avenue in East Hampton, will host a UKRAINE FUNDRAISER on Saturday, November 25 to aid refugees in the war-torn country. The works of 5 Ukrainian artists will be for sale: Miroslav Duzinkevych; Julia Beynenson, Sasha Odesa, Valeriy Puzik, and Alisa Kutsak.  The event will also include a musical performance by Alla Rodina (the National artist of Ukraine) and Aleksandr Bolotin (an award-winning pianist). Our special guest will be a famous Ukrainian journalist Julia Gorodetskaya.

This event will offer a unique opportunity to learn more about Audrey Flack’s artistic journey and the significance of her contributions. Following the artist talk, we will be screening THE LAST ART HEROINE: a short documentary on Audrey Flack.

Collector’s Talk This Weekend hosted by Christina M. Strassfield at SAC on Sunday, October 29 @ 2pm.

October 26, 2023: Christina M. Strassfield, Executive Director of SAC and curator of their current exhibition, Heroines of the Abstract Expressionist Era, will host an intimate conversation with collector’s Rick Friedman and Cindy Lou Wakefield at SAC on Sunday, October 29 @ 2pm. The 100 pieces in the current exhibition are from their renowned collection.  They will share strategies and advice with Christina about acquiring art and building a collection. In addition, they will discuss how they formulated their collection and how it has evolved since.

The exhibition will be on view from October 7ththrough December 17, 2023. There will be an opening reception on Saturday, October 14 from 5-7pm.  There are also outstanding films and conversations, which will be presented as an adjunct to the exhibition.

September 16, 2023: CHANGE AGENTS: WOMEN COLLECTORS SHAPING THE ART WORLD, curated by Kate Fowle, Folasade Ologundudu, and Xiaoyu Weng, is on view at Southampton Arts Center, 25 Jobs Lane, through Saturday, September 30. Also, this month Linda Capello’s figure drawing continues on Fridays. The film, Kolonial, screens on Friday, September 22. The following weekend on Friday there is an event with the Southampton Rotary Club focusing on diverse community initiatives and the next day, Saturday, September 30, SouthamptonFest, a highlight of the fall season, begins at 11am.

Join Southampton Arts Center at this special evening outdoors in partnership with WLIW-FM, where musicians write, compose, and perform their own musical material, including lyrics and melodies. Hosted By Gianna Volpe and Marina DeLuca.
