When Josh Gladstone, the Artistic Director of Guild Hall, brought Joy to the stage of The John Drew Theater on Friday evening she said, “I just want to laugh and have a good time.” Yes, that is what we came for, Joy’s brand of humor, and she did not disappoint. The reading on Friday, although a tiny bit long, was a peak at a humorous work in progress. There is meat on those bones but the playwright needs to trim the fat. In Behar’s tale, set in Queens, relationships are hard, and marriage is work.
