John Drew Backyard Theater moved indoors for conversation with renowned artists, Laurie Anderson and Julian Schnabel.

July 18, 2021:  The forecast was not looking great, so Guild Hall moved the John Drew Backyard Theater conversation with renowned artists, Laurie Anderson and Julian Schnabel, indoors.  Attendees were thrilled to witness these multi-talented artists, both Guild Hall Lifetime Achievement in the Visual Arts honorees, share their post pandemic thoughts on life, art, friends, and projects. The discussion was moderated by Christina Mossaides Strassfield, Guild Hall’s Museum Director/Chief Curator.

Final shows Wednesday, July 14th at 7pm & 9pm:  The Award-winning comedian, author, and actor, Mike Birbiglia, brings an hour of All new material to Guild Hall. 

July 11, 2021: The gifted comedian, Mike Birbiglia, who happens to be a best-selling author and an actor, also won the 2019 Drama Desk, Outer Critics Circle, and Lucille Lortel Awards for his solo show, The New One. He was performing that show on Broadway when the pandemic hit, so Birbiglia went from Broadway to Zoom. And now he is back gracing stages and Guild Hall is lucky to have him for several performances.

ARF Ground Breaking

Animal Rescue Fund of the Hamptons breaks ground on FOREVER HOME: An expansive history making state-of-the-art building project and renovation.

May 28, 2021:  Animal Rescue Fund of the Hamptons hosted an historic ground-breaking for their new expansion, FOREVER HOME. The community celebration for East End animal lovers was held from 4-6pm on Saturday, May 28th at the ARF Campus 124 Daniel Hoe Road, East Hampton.  Specially trained canines dug the first hole for the dramatic new expansion.

The Longhouse Trustees and Peter OIsen hosted Celebration of Life, a garden party in memory of Jack Lenor Larsen (1927-2020)

May 16, 2021:  Peter Olsen and the Longhouse Trustees hosted Celebration of Life, a garden party in memory of Jack Lenor Larsen, the founder of LongHouse, who died last year at 93. The celebration at LongHouse featured Jack’s peak Spring garden on a glorious Saturday afternoon.

Julie Andrews and her daughter Emma Walton Hamilton will read their children’s book, Simeon’s Gift, on Saturday @10:30 am via Zoom. This is the final segment in the Bay Street Theater online series. 

May 10, 2021:  The final segment for Bay Street Theater’s Storytime will be Julie Andrews and her daughter, Emma Walton Hamilton, co-authors of the children’s book, Simeon’s Gift. The reading is the final Zoom segment for Storytime, an eight-part online program of children’s book readings by authors from the East End and New York. The series is an interactive and engaging experience, where children and their families can enjoy live readings. Julie and Emma will read Simeon’s Gift, their most recent children’s book, during a Zoom session on Saturday, May 15th @ 10:30 am. A Q&A will follow. Bay Street Theater

New Home for Bay Street Theater to be completed by 2023

April 8, 2021:  At a zoom press conference on Tuesday morning Bay Street Theater in Sag Harbor announced their exciting plans for 22 Long Island Avenue, the property the not for profit purchased in October for 13.9 million dollars. The goal was to create a new “state of the art” purpose built home at the entrance to Sag Harbor with two theaters and facilities to accommodate their year- round educational programs.

(ARF) announces that its annual “Stroll to the Sea” Dog Walk presented by Chaser and The Corcoran Group will be a VIRTUAL walk this year due to COVID-19. The event, now in its 27th year, will still be a fun, family outing that is intended to promote responsible dog ownership and awareness of ARF while raising important funds for the cats and dogs.
