SAC opens new exhibition, Heroines of the Abstract Expressionist Era, curated by Christina M. Strassfield on view through December 17, 2023

October 15, 2023: Southampton Arts center, 25 Jobs Lane in Southampton, hosted an opening reception for the new exhibition: Heroines of the Abstract Expressionist Era, a collection of 32 female artists from the Abstract Expressionist era – the first major American art movement. Curated by Chistina M. Strassfield from the renowned collection of Rick Friedman and Cindy Lou Wakefield, the 100 pieces is the first-ever exhibition to feature female abstract artists of the era from New York City to the Hamptons.

October 13, 2023:  Closing Night at the 31st Hamptons International Film Festival was perfection The festival was honored to host Leonard Bernstein’s three children—Jamie, Alexander and Nina—in addition to producers Amy Durning and Fred Berner for screenings of MAESTRO, the closing film of the festival.

NYAD opens the 31st Annual Hamptons International Film Festival. 

October 6, 2023: The Hamptons International Film Festival opened their 31st Edition with the East Coast premiere of NYAD, a film about pushing boundaries. The true story about Diana Nyad and her best friend Bonnie stars Annette Bening and Jodie Foster. The film is based on actual events and is from Academy Award-winning documentary filmmakers Elizabeth Chai Vasarhelyi and Jimmy Chin.  NYAD making their narrative film debut with NYAD.

 January 25, 2020:  Everybody has a story and LTV, East Hampton’s Media Center and Public Access Television station, presented several personal stories on fear , loathing and desire featuring Joy Behar, Patrick Christiano, Dell Cullum, Bryan Downey, Steven Gaines, Alfredo Merat, Mercedes Ruehl, Telly and Andrew Visconti. The evening at the LTV Media Center in Wainscott was hosted by LTV’s Creative Director Angela LaGreca.

Gurney’s Montauk New Year’s Eve 2020

“The Roaring 20’s” was the theme for New Year’s Eve at Gurney’s in Montauk.

January 1, 2020: Guests at Gurney’s, on the brink of the Atlantic Ocean in Montauk, stepped back in time to ring in the New Year “Roaring 20’s” style and danced to live 20’s inspired jazz and a DJ Vikas. The weekend was full of programming from champagne sabering classes to fitness pop-ups, and Gurney’s annual New Year’s Day Polar Plunge. Also available was a delectable five course dinner at Scarpetta Beach, Gurney’s amazing 5-star restaurant overlooking the ocean. There were two separate dinner seatings before the ball dropped in Times Square at midnight.

November 2, 2019: The tricks and treats continued with ARF’s Halloween Pawty on Saturday, November 2, from 12 to 3 PM. All were welcome, kids and pets, too, at the ARF Adoption Center in East Hampton for tricks-and-treats, a haunted agility course for dogs, low-cost vaccines for your pets, adoptions, contests and so much more. Offering FVRCP, DA2PP, bordetella, rabies and microchipping for just $10 each! For cats and dogs only. $25 fee for each vaccine for unaltered animals. No appointment was necessary.

The 44th Hampton Classic Horse Show in Bridgehampton closed on Sunday in spectacular fashion with picture perfect weather.

September 2, 2019: The 44th edition of the Hampton Classic Horse Show in Bridgehampton ended in spectacular fashion Sunday, with two-time Canadian Olympic veteran, Mario Deslauriers, capturing the $300,000 DOHA.INC Grand Prix on his mount Bardolina.

August 25, 2019: Circus of Books, directed by Rachel Mason, the final film in the HIFF SummerDocs Series, screened at Guild Hall in East Hampton on Saturday evening.  Afterwards, Alec Baldwin (HIFF Co-Chair) and David Nugent (HIFF Artistic Director) led a conversation with the film’s director Rachel Mason and her mother, Karen Mason, who is a central focus of the film. The screening at Guild Hall was preceded by a reception at the home of Charles and Mary Brock.

Julian Schnabel and Donna Karan honored at LongHouse Reserve Annual Summer Benefit with special performance by Laurie Anderson.

July 21, 2019: East Hampton’s LongHouse Reserve hosted their annual Summer Benefit on the grounds of their 16-acre sculpture garden with works by Buckminster Fuller, Yoko Ono and Willem de Kooning.  Acclaimed filmmaker and painter, Julian Schnabel, was given the LongHouse Award, and Ross Bleckner presented Donna Karan with the Leadership Award. The evening is an annual celebration of LongHouse with cocktails, dinner, and auctions. Artist Laurie Anderson created a special performance for the evening.

July 13, 2019: LTV, the East End public access television station, celebrated Summer with a very funny evening produced by Angela LaGreca, who also served as Emcee for the festivities.  The Super Salon Comedy at LTV at 75 Industrial Road in Wainscoitt featured acclaimed comedian Elayne Boosler, who was called “The First Lady of Standup Comedy” by Rolling Stone, along with Michele Balan and Bill McCuddy.

The Hamptons International Film Festival presented a new film by Susan Lacy at Guild Hall in East Hampton.

October 22, 2018:  HIFF presented an East coast screening of an HBO Documentary Film,  Jane Fonda In Five Acts by award making filmmaker Susan Lacy, at Guild Hall in East Hampton. A packed house showed up to see the film before the film’s October 24th release date on HBO. HFF’s Co-Chair Alec Baldwin moderated a Q&A with Director Susan Lacy afterwards.

September 2, 2018:  The 43rd edition of the Hampton Classic Horse Show ended in spectacular fashion Sunday, with America’s McLain Ward of Brewster, NY, capturing the $300,000 Hampton Classic Grand Prix presented by Douglas Elliman for a record seventh time.
