Twelfth Night @ Axis

Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night directed by Randall Sharp for Drama Desk nominated Axis.

April 25, 2024:   Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night, directed by Randal Sharp, began previews yesterday at the Drama Desk nominated Axis. Sharp, the Artistic Director of the Axis, will bring her signature stark and live musical touch to Shakespeare’s most painful comedy, Twelfth Night. The streamlined adaptation by Marc Palmieri will run through May 25, 2024, at the Axis, 1 Sheridan Square in the West village. The performance schedule is Wednesday through Saturday at 8pmEven in a season of the darkest calamities, does the human will to be happy ever surrender? Shall there be cakes, ale, dancing, and love, as the darkness ever looms? Director Randall Sharp brings her signature stark and musical touch to one of Shakespeare’s most hilarious, yet heart-breaking tales of unrequited love. Sharp’s radical interpretation strips away much of the jovial excess of Shakespeare’s most-beloved play and places focus on the yearning for human connection.
