Glee’s Chris Colfer in Struck by Lightning: Double Screen Debut By Ellis Nassour
Chris Colfer, who plays Kurt Hummel on Fox’s smash Glee series, is making his star feature film debut as actor and writer in Struck by Lightning [Tribeca Film; Emerging Pictures], opening FridayJan 10, 2013.
The film had its world premiere at the2012 Tribeca Film Festival and received a standing ovation. Tony-winning (and two-time nominee), two-time Drama Desk winning- (with a third nomination) and two-time Emmy-winning Allison Janney; Emmy-winning (with another three nominations) Polly Bergen; Rebel Wilson; three-time Emmy nominee Christina Hendricks (Mad Men); and Dermot Mulroney co-star. Brian Dannelly (Saved!) is the director.
Colfer plays a high school senior destined for bigger things than his close-minded small town can offer when fate intervenes. He’s killed after being struck by lightning. This doesn’t stop him from recounting the last weeks of his life via witty, insightful flashbacks, including tales of home life with an alcoholic mother (Janney), estranged father (Mulroney) who has a pregnant fiancée (Hendricks), and a blackmail scheme targeting popular kids at school.
