Orlando Bloom and Condola Rashad walked the red carpet along with many other cast members at the exclusive in-theatre BroadwayHD premiere of Broadway’s Romeo and Juliet. The event at the Chelsea Cinemas on West 23rd Street kicked off the launch of in theater showings of the filmed version of the acclaimed Broadway production of Romeo and Juliet, which was shot with 9 HD cameras and edited into a stunningly beautiful new release. Orlando Bloom, the British actor who is known all over the world for his films "Lord of the Rings," and "Pirates of the Caribbean," is Romeo and Condola Rashad, the gifted theater actress who television viewers may have seen in "Smash" is Juliet.
Screenvision, a national cinema advertising leader, and BroadwayHD, a new company formed by Stewart F. Lane and Bonnie Comley to make Broadway accessible to everyone, have teamed up to bring this production of Romeo and Juliet to theatres nationwide this February, and this was the World Premier
. From here they hope to bring Broadway to movie screens around the world. The idea is that with HD (high definition) cameras you can capture the excitement of a New York City Broadway performance in front of a live audience so viewers can share the joy of being there, and see the performances up close capturing moments you would never have seen in the theater. Romeo and Juliet will be screened in at least 4oo theatres around Valentines Day.
