April 23, 2024: The 38th edition of the MAC AWARDS was held on Monday, April 15th at 7pm at Symphony Space. The show was produced by Julie Miller and directed by Amy Wolk with musical director Dan Pardo.

April 23, 2024: The 38th edition of the MAC AWARDS was held on Monday, April 15th at 7pm at Symphony Space. The show was produced by Julie Miller and directed by Amy Wolk with musical director Dan Pardo.

It was beautiful and well put together and the winners were chosen by the member of MAC. In addition to the winners the LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARDS were chosen by the Board and a special HANSON AWARD chosen by committee.  This year there were three LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARDS which were given to Jean-Pierre Perreux, Lee Roy Reams and Vivian Reed and the HANSON AWARD to Marcia Roney.

A special medley of songs about lighting was written for Jean-Pierre performed by Lina Koutakras Karen Mason, Billy Stritch and  Lennie Watts honored Jean-Pierre who has been llighting and technical genius for years and has worked with everyone and at most of the clubs. The number was brilliant and the audience joined in for “You Light Up My Life.  He has won a MAC Award almost every year and he said in his speech, now someone else will be able to win the MAC Award for this. After A video montage of the work that Vivian Reed had done, Norm Lewis a friend of hers presented her with the award. Vivian who has been teaching and working for young performers brought out a fabulous student of hers Christian Mark Gibson and Lee Roy Reams, performer, dancer and Director was introduced by the legendary Marilyn Maye.  Some of the presenters were Karen Mason who presented the awards to Major Male and Female were Eric Comstock, Meg Flather, Sharon McNight who also  performed and David Friedman who presented the two cd awards.  Jeff Harnar, Susie Moser and Alison Nusbaum each won two awards, Jeff for his Cy Coleman CD “A Collective Cy”, Director Susie for Emcee and Recurring Series and  Alison for Tech Director and Piano Bar Entertainer.
