Christine Ebersole, a two time Tony Award winning chanteuse, enchanted a sold out audience with Edward Hibbert, in Love, Noel: The Letters and Songs of Noel Coward at Bay Street Theatre, Saturday April 18, 2011. The special event on Memorial Day Weekend is only the second time the two luminaries have performed the material devised and written by Barry Day, based on The Letters of Noel Coward. The evening interweaves the music of Coward with letters between him and his famous friends, which have been newly collected in the critically acclaimed book, The Letters of Noël Coward, edited by Barry Day. Two of the delicious songs from the evening were “I’ll See You Again,” and “If Love Were All.” In the self deprecating latter the devilish funny playwright laments believing in only having a talent to amuse. Well he has been making us smile and laugh now for nearly seven decades and the accomplished duo at Bay Street Saturday night captured the heart- warming smart sophistication of the multi-talented Coward with spellbinding ease making the show a wonderful night to remember.  P Christiano
