“The Absolute Brightness of Leonard Pelky” at Bay Street Theater in Sag Harbor benefits Live Out Loud.
On Saturday, July 23 Bay Street Theater and Live Out Loud presented a special performance of “The Absolute Brightness of Leonard Pelkey.” The dazzling solo show, written and performed by James Lecesne an Academy-Awarding writer for the film “Trevor,” is based on his best-selling novel, Absolute Brightness set in a Jersey shore town.

Tony Speciale directs and James Lecesne portrays every character in the story in which a detective unravels the murder of a flamboyant 14 year-old boy, Leonard Pelkey. The boy becomes the unexpected inspiration for a town as the investigation compels them to question how they live, who they love and what they leave behind. The 70 minute play with music by Duncan Sheik was produced on the Mainstage of Bay Street Theater by special arrangement with Darren Bagert and Daryl Roth ran from July 18-24 as part of Bay Street Theater’s expanded season.
