Based on true events, Hitler’s Tasters, a dark comedy about the young girls, who were chosen to be Hitler’s food tasters, feels chillingly relevant.

May 4, 2022: Hitler’s Taster’s, a captivating play by Michelle Kholos Brooks, opened for a limited run at Theatre Row through May 21, 2022. The dark comedy, based on true events, is about the young girls who were given the honor to serve Der Fuhrer, by being his food tasters and risking death at every meal.
The tale feels more chillingly relevant today than when it was first staged at the intimate IRT Theater in 2018. The present cultural and political climate is even more ripe and hopefully ready for this cautionary tale. The girls, Liesel (Hallie Griffin), Hilda (Mary Kathryn Kopp), Anna (Kaitlin Paige Longoria), and Margot (Hannah Sturges originated the roles in the IRT production and are back to reprise their roles beautifully under Sarah Norris’ skillful direction, again.
Winner of the 2017 Glaspell Award, Hitler’s Tasters debuted in NYC in 2018 and has since toured to Chicago, Los Angeles, East Hampton, Saranac Lake (NY), Sylva (NC), and had a sold out run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
Legendary director, Susan Stroman, said, “One of the best evenings I’ve spent in the theater in a long time…It was interesting, entertaining, upsetting and made you think.”
Hitler’s Taster’s is now playing at Theatre Row through May 21, 2022.
