August 12, 2021: Guild Hall, the cultural center of East Hampton, hosted their annual Gala, a celebration of 90 years of excellence. The evening began in the museum with the opening reception for Robert Longo: A History of the Present, curated by Christina Mossaides Strassfield, Guild Hall Chief Curation and Museum Director. In two adjacent galleries Longo juxtaposes America’s past with it present through 17 monumental, highly labor-intensive charcoal drawings that act as mirrors into history. This breathtaking exhibition is truly a “must see” event. From there the celebration moved to a private home for cocktails overlooking the pond, dinner and the program under a tent, followed by dancing to DJ Mick.
