Grace Hartigan (1922-2008)
ACA Galleries features paintings and works on paper by Grace Hartigan through June 3, 2017
On Saturday April 29th ACA Galleries at 529 West 20th Street in the gallery district hosted an opening reception of an exhibition of paintings and works on paper by Grace Hartigan form the 1940s to 2000s that will be on view until June 3, 2017. She was the recipient of numerous awards during her lifetime.
In 1960, Grace moved to Baltimore where she eventually began teaching at the Maryland Institute College of Art, which built a graduate school around her practice, the Hoffberger School of Painting. She became the director of the school in 1965.
Her work is included in the traveling exhibition, Women of Abstract Expression, organized by the Denver Art Museum is currently on view at the Palm Springs Art Museum, Florida through May 29, 2017. A catalogue is available.
