April 3, 2013: 59E59 Theaters kicked off Scotland Week celebrations with the US premiere of David Horrower’s Good With People launching the 2013 Brits Off Broadway festival. David Harrower is one of Scotland’s most acclaimed writers and his haunting two character play presented by the Traverse Theater Company is reminiscent of his previous Off Broadway two character gem, Blackbird, which played at the Blue Heron Studio theater six years ago launching David Korins design career.
In Good With People Andrew Scott-Ramsay plays Evan, a man who has been trying to escape his past, but after three years returns to Helensburgh, home to that past and Britain’s nuclear defense program. At this once striving resort he checks in to hotel where he crosses path with Helen, a woman he hasn’t seen in three years, played Blythe Duff. Evan was on one the teenage boys involved in an assault on her son. What appears to be a black and white situation unfolds as a complex engaging drama, beautifully performed by the actors in George Perrin’s marvelously subtle and atmospheric production.
