Some of Broadway’s brightest stars will be on hand for The Drama League’s 28th Annual Musical celebration of Broadway. One of the theater season’s most anticipated events will honor Tony and Emmy Award winning actress Kristin Chenoweth on February 6, 2012 at 7 pm in the Grand Ballroom of The Pierre Hotel. The evening designed by celebrity event planner Preston Bailey supports the educational initiatives of The Drama League Directors Project.

Gala Chairpersons, Bonnie Comley and Stewart F. Lane, along with Gabriel Shanks, The Drama League’s Executive Director and Drama League President Jano Herbosch announced an impressive list of special guests including Joel Grey, Laura Benanti, Elaine Page, Donna Murphy, Cheyenne Jackson, Debra Monk, Andrew Lippa, Marlo Thomas, Brent Barrett, Carole Shelly and others including original and current cast members from 
Wicked that will make appearances at the all star tribute directed by Evan Pappas, produced by Drama League Artistic Director Robert T. Danforth, with a book by Stephen Cole and musical direction by Steve Freeman. The evening will include selections from Wicked, “Glee,” You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown, Candide, Promises, Promises, Annie, The Music Man, Steel Pier, A New Brain, The Apple Tree and many more. The Gala will bring together 400 of New York’s most influential arts supporters, and celebrities for a black-tie evening of cocktails, dinner and an unforgettable one-night only (the past few programs have been sensational) musical revue featuring dozens of stars from theater, film and television.

The Benefit Gala raises much needed funding for important educational programs of The Drama League Directors Project. Since 1984 The Benefit Gala has honored outstanding artists whose talents and passion have become a benchmark for others to aspire.
