May 1, 2022: Spring is here and the LongHouse Gardens in East Hampton are open and filled with new growth in every corner. Spring is the perfect moment for an invigorating visit to the magnificent 16 acre sculpture garden. Many people from the surrounding area did exactly that on April 30. Snowdrops, daffodils and hellebores take center stage in the spring as well as their earliest flowering trees, a delight on near perfect day, weatherwise.

May 16, 2021: Peter Olsen and the Longhouse Trustees hosted Celebration of Life, a garden party in memory of Jack Lenor Larsen, the founder of LongHouse, who died last year at 93. The celebration at LongHouse featured Jack’s peak Spring garden on a glorious Saturday afternoon.

May 10, 2021: The final segment for Bay Street Theater’s Storytime will be Julie Andrews and her daughter, Emma Walton Hamilton, co-authors of the children’s book, Simeon’s Gift.The reading is the final Zoom segment for Storytime, an eight-part online program of children’s book readings by authors from the East End and New York. The series is an interactive and engaging experience, where children and their families can enjoy live readings. Julie and Emma will read Simeon’s Gift, their most recent children’s book, during a Zoom session on Saturday, May 15th @ 10:30 am. A Q&A will follow. New Home for Bay Street Theater to be completed by 2023
April 8, 2021: At a zoom press conference on Tuesday morning Bay Street Theater in Sag Harbor announced their exciting plans for 22 Long Island Avenue, the property the not for profit purchased in October for 13.9 million dollars. The goal was to create a new “state of the art” purpose built home at the entrance to Sag Harbor with two theaters and facilities to accommodate their year- round educational programs.
October 12, 2020: The 28th Hamptons International Film Festival, presented by HamptonsFilm, announced their award winners at a virtual ceremony. Handing out over $29,500 in cash awards and $130,000 in goods and services. This year’s festival is running October 8 – 14 with virtual screenings and drive-ins.
September 18, 2020: East Hampton, N.Y., The Animal Rescue Fund of the Hamptons, Inc. (ARF) announces that its annual “Stroll to the Sea” Dog Walk presented by Chaser and The Corcoran Group will be a VIRTUAL walk this year due to COVID-19. The event, now in its 27th year, will still be a fun, family outing that is intended to promote responsible dog ownership and awareness of ARF while raising important funds for the cats and dogs.

October 14, 2019: The 27th Hamptons International Film Festival, presented by HamptonsFilm, announced their award winners at a ceremony in East Hampton. The 2019 festival was dedicated to Michael Lynne, a HIFF Board Member for almost two decades, and Mark Urman a member of HIFF’s Advisory Board for eleven years, both of whom passed away earlier this year.

August 26, 2018: Andrea McCafferty and Kat O’Neill, Co-Directors of The White Room Gallery, 2415 Main Street, in Bridgehampton hosted the opening reception for an exciting new exhibition, “Outside the Box,” featuring Donna Bernstein, Steve Cohen, Jackie Fuchs, and Karen L Kirshner, which will be on view at The White Room Gallery through September 10th. The piano man himself, Billy Joel turned up to support his friend, Steve Cohen, who just happens to be Billy Joel’s lighting designer as well. Steve, who has been painting with light his entire career, is a guest on Spotlight on the Arts this week chatting about his art and process. Check it out! August 4, 2019: Sarna Lapine’s delightful staging of Irving Berlin’s beloved musical, Annie Get Your Gun, opened last night at Bay Street Theater, centered by a luminous Alexandra Socha as Annie. Every element of this streamlined production, infused with Blue Grass melodies, shines beautifully, lighting up the intimate stage in Sag Harbor with rollicking good fun. To hear these classics songs like, “There’s No Business Like Show Business,” “Anything You Can Do,” and “They Say It’s Wonderful,” sung with a Blue Grass Band that sits elevated at the back of the stage is simply wonderful and a unique surprise.
