What’s happening all over . . . I’ll tell you. . .
Barbara Cook, "Broadway’s favorite ingénue" during the heyday of the Broadway musical, is back at Feinstein’s at the Loews Regency. Her silvery soprano, purity of tone and warm presence have delighted audiences around the world for more than 50 years. She received the 2011 Kennedy Center Honors, along with Meryl Streep, Neil Diamond, Yo-Yo Ma and Sonny Rollins.
Following Ms. Cook is the marvelous, mischievous incomparable Marilyn Maye (MAC Award Winner) in a return engagement. She is a master class a minute with impeccable phrasing and lyric interpretation, her jazzy nuances second to none. She was a guest on the Johnny Carson Show 76 times – that should tell you something!
Both these ladies are octogenarians! Hard to believe, and they are the best of the best!
Clint Holmes returns to the Café Carlyle. Known for his hit single “Playground in My Mind,” he’s gone on to have an auspicious career in Las Vegas and is a consummate entertainer with a powerful voice and a compelling personality.
Multi-Award winning singer-director Eric Michael Gillett (MAC Award Winner) returns to the Laurie Beechman Theatre with a tribute to Stephen Sondheim – “I Won’t Sing a Sondheim Song . . . Or Will I?” This golden voiced pop-Broadway singer opens his soul, bringing passion to every song.
Grace Cosgrove is a singer, who the NY Post called “absolutely mesmerizing.” She is presenting a new compilation of passionate American classics, at the Metropolitan Room, from Johnny Mercer to Laura Nyro, Burt Bacharach to Rodgers and Hammerstein. The show is directed by the legendary Marilyn Maye, with Don Rebic musical director.
