May 29,2019: Right Angle Entertainment (currently, The Office: A Musical Parody) is presenting the troupe of award-winning and celebrated improvisers and their revival of the Off Off Broadway hit Broadway’s Next Hit Musical at the Jerry Orbach Theatre (1627 Broadway at 50th Street, elevator entrance) four Thursdays through June 27 at 7:30. The “Hilarious” (NYTimes), “Remarkable … must be seen to be believed” (NYPost) show, starring veterans from Chicago’s acclaimed Second City, is New York’s only unscripted theatrical show. The reviews are from January’s engagement at the Triad, on West 72nd Street. The show was also presented in the New York Musical Theatre Festival.

Deb Rabbai, not only one of the four improvsters but also a company artistic director and producer, says, “Everything we do is improvised. With the excellent help of our audience, every song is on-the-spot fresh, every scene is brand new, every performance is totally different. It’s all pure, family fun.”

The company is made up of MAC Award winner Rabbai; two-time MAC Award winner Rob Schiffman, also a company artistic director and producer; actor, singer, and improv instructor Robert Z. Grant; Matt Giroveanu (People’s Improv Theater; Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Broadwalk Empire); and MAC winner and another Chicago City Limits vet Stefan Schick. The emcee, relaying hints and direction from audience members, is Greg Triggs, also a co-producer. Music directing is Gary Adler.

The troupe takes hit song suggestions from the audience and create spontaneous new musical numbers – of course, laced with comedy. Then, audience members vote for favorite song and watch as the cast turns it into a full-blown improvised musical – complete with characters and plot twists. There’s even a Special Theater Award presented at the climax.

Broadway’s Next Hit Musical tickets start at $28 – $63 and are available through www.ticketmaster.com [service fees will apply] or by calling the Orbach box office, (212) 921-7862. The show plays on the same stage as Right Angle’s Off-Broadway hit The Office! A Musical Parody, now extended into September. For more information, visit www.broadwaysnexthitmusical.com.
