In its 13th year, Town Hall’s critically-acclaimed series Broadway by the Year continues to enthrall audience with its concert productions of landmark and some-not-so-landmark shows. On April 29 at 8 P.M. shows such as Grease, Pippin, and Sugar, the stage musical adaption of the film Some Like It Hot, get the spotlight in The Broadway Musicals of 1972. There’ll also be classic Hollywood tunes as featured in the epic M-G-M documentary That’s Entertainment.
Among the headliners are two-time Tony nominee Carolee Carmello, Tony winner Christopher Fitzgerald, two-time Tony nominee Bob Stillman, dancer Danny Gardner, and special guest Patrick Page, plus the singing and dancing Broadway by the Year Chorus.
Taking the audience on a journey through show-stopping numbers as well as lesser-known gems and facts and humor about the musicals will be BBTY creator and host Scott Siegel. Ross Patterson is arranger and musical director, appearing with his Little Big Band.
Always entertaining, always witty host/writer Scott Siegel is a theater history encyclopedia and puts shows in the context of their period.
