Bay Street Theater in Sag Harbor presented a hilarious production of Christopher Durang’s outrageous comedy BETTY’S SUMMER VACATION, which opened on their Mainstage Saturday July 9, 2011 after 4 preview performances. The second production of their 20th season is a side-splitting tale about a woman, who spends a season at the beach, much like the Hamptons, in a summer share house full of zany characters. Playwright Christopher Durang’s credits include BEYOND THERAPY, which was part of the 2008 Mainstage Season, THE MARRIAGE OF BETTE AND BOO, A HISTORY OF THE AMERICAN FILM (Tony Nomination) the riotous satire SISTER MARY IGNATIUS EXPLAINS IT ALL FOR YOU and many others. Directed by Trip Cullman, who helmed A Small Fire at Playwrights Horizons this season, the evening is an unpredictable loony ride of non-stop laughter performed by a top notch cast that includes John Behimann, Veanne Cox, Bobby Steggert, Heidi Schreck, Cellia Keenan-Boiger, and Tom Rils Farrell. The mysterious voices in the attic are performed by Jacob Hoffman, Tim Intravia, and Kate O’Phalen. PC
