TRU PRODUCER BOOT CAMP

Theater Resources Unlimited, the go to place for producers, writers, directors, and actors, hosted a comprehensive all day event for theater professionals, which focused on raising money for theater in our current tough economy. The well attended workshop was an inspiring and informative look at the tools needed to plunge successfully into producing as well as an empowering networking source for new and established producers.

William Franzblau, whose new musical WONDERLAND (with all original music) will open on Broadway in April was one of the notable producers that spoke including Cheryl Wiesenfeld (A Steady Rain, Legally Blonde, In the Continuum, and the current off Broadway hit Play Dead) and her partner Pat Blake (The Exonerated, In the Continuum, and Play Dead).  Other producers who spoke were Tom Smedes (Tony & Drama Desk nominated Next Fall, [title of show], Naked Boys Singing), Van Dean (Catch Me If You Can, Rooms, a rock romance), Hillary Cutter (Rooms, a rock romance) RK Greene (Love Child, Room Service, Cougar!), Jane Dubin (The 39 Steps, Beebo Chronicles, The Norman Conquests) and business consultant Sheila Speller, who is working on the upcoming revival of Streetcar Named Desire.
