The Tony-winning Paper Mill Playhouse (2016 Regional Theatre Award) will present the first tri-state revival of Mel Brooks and Thomas Meehan’s Broadway record-breaking box office and Tony (12 wins)- and Drama Desk (11 wins)- winning smash The Producers from September 28 through October 23.
Don Stephenson (Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike and Lend Me a Tenor for Paper Mill; and John Adams in their 1776), an alumnus of Broadway’s Producers [where he played Leo Bloom for six months in 2003] will recreate Susan Stroman’s award-winning direction; with Bill Burns, resident director and choreographer on The Producers tours (also Fosse, Jerome Robbins’ Broadway), staging her award-winning choreography.
Headlining the production will be, Michael Kostroff (The Nance; HBO’s The Wire, Disney Channel’s Sonny with a Chance ) as Max Bialystock; and David Josefsberg (Buddy and Roy in PMP’s Honeymoon in Vegas, reprising those roles on Broadway, and Max in PMP’s Lend Me a Tenor; and who’s currently appearing in An Act of God) as Leo Bloom.

“It’s a thrill to revisit this hilarious show as a director, having played the part of Leo on tour and on Broadway,” says Stephenson. “To build The Producers at Paper Mill Playhouse is ideal. The facilities and the support that artists receive make for a seamless creative process.”
The Producers design team includes costumes by six-time Tony and seven-time DD winner William Ivey Long, who did costumes for Broadway’s Producers.; and scenic design by three-time Tony and six -time DD winner Robin Wagner.
