Gripping adaptation of John Fowles’ The Collector opens at 59E59 Theaters
The New York premiere of The Collector, an absorbing adaption of John Fowles’s disturbing novel by Mark Healy, directed by Lisa Miluazz opened at 59E59 Theaters on November 1, 2016 starring Jillian Geurts and Matt de Rogatis in a production by Nine Theatricals and Roebuck Theatrical.
William Wyler adapted the novel into a chilling 1965 film starring Terrance Stamp and Samantha Eager. The unnerving tale follows a modest clerk Frederick Clegg, who buys a remote country house after winning a fortune in a lottery. He then furnishes the house with everything he thinks a beautiful woman would desire and kidnaps a girl he has adored from a distance, imprisoning her in the cellar with his butterfly collection. The surprising evening is an emotional thriller about a man with a dangerous obsession tautly staged by Ms. Milinazzo on the small stage at 59E59 Theaters.
The limited engagement runs through Sunday, November 13 at 59E59 Theaters with performances on Tuesday – Thursday at 7:30 Pm, Friday at 8:30 PM, Saturday at 2:30 PM and 8:30 PM, and Sunday at 3:30 PM. To purchase tickets, call Ticket Central at 212-279-4200 or go to www.59e59.org.
