She was born in Mumbai, India and grew up in a Jewish community among a complex montage of Eastern and Western religions. As a cultural minority, Siona has been deeply touched by recent issues facing immigrants today. Her new work focuses on Syrian refugees and other people displaced by war, famine and political strife.

A traveling exhibition of this work was recently on view at the Opalka Gallery in Albany, New York and will be on view at the Peninsula Jewish Community Center in Foster City, California in September-October 2017. A catalogue is available.
