The actors spoke directly to the audience, as Spalding himself would have done, focusing on different aspects of the writer’s life, including private journal entries, as well as excerpts from Gray’s unpublished works.
STORIES LEFT TO TELL also draws from some of the shows that made him a household name—Swimming to Cambodia, Monster in a Box and Life Interrupted. Conceived by Spalding’s widow Kathleen Russo along with Lucy Sexton, who also functions as the evening’s director the show is clear reminder of Gray’s skill for hilarious monologues.
