The event brought together over 400 donors, corporate supporters, and elected officials to celebrate, life-affirming, Live Out Loud educational programming for LGBTQ+ youth. The Gala honored advocates in the community who further the Live Out Loud mission and presented $10,000 scholarships to three high school seniors for their leadership in the LGBTQ+ community.

The advocates honored were Joselyn Rosa, a school counselor at Herbert Lehman High School, who was honored with the Educator of the Year Award, Eric Marcus, author and host of Marking Gay History Podcast, who was honored with the Soaring Spirit Award, and Wade Davis, former NFL player and corporate inclusion advisor, who was honored with the Trailblazer Award.

The evening’s best moments were provided by the young scholarship winners, Benjamin J. Dionne, Hugh F. Goldstein, and Alex Rosado, accepting their awards. Jennifer Abbondanza, Vice President of Diversity & Inclusion for Comcast NBC Universal, was presented with the Corporate Leadership Award by Leo Preziosi, Jr. Founder and Executive Director of Live Out Loud. Special guest Tobe Baer, a singer/songwriter, closed out the evening with an inspiring song “Your Voice” by Denise Marsa.
