The Ocean View Art Center and guest co-host ACA Galleries of New York presented a selective retrospective of Jan Sawka at the Principi Art Barn, 551 Montauk Highway in Amagansett. Sawka, a renaissance man of our times was part of the Polish Poster “School” of the 1960’s and 70’s and was well known for his set designs for avant-garde theater of that era. In the mid-1980’s he established himself on the gallery scene of New York as well as continuing his set design work with renowned NYC theater companies. After 1991, he shifted his focus toward Asia collaborating with Japanese experts and turning his focus to multi-media projects. He further expanded his reach by designing for rock and roll musicians like The Grateful Dead and Traffic.
