The Tulla Booth Gallery in Sag Harbor celebrated local artist, Daniel Jones, with an opening reception for his show “Seaside Impression” on Saturday, December 26th. Daniel Jones was recently featured on CBS Sunday Morning several weeks ago. The exhibition will be on view through Saturday, January 30th. His meditative “Seaside Impression” series ae large camera-shot landscapes of the ocean and sunsets that are photographed with an extremely long exposure time.
The Southold-based photographer shot his first series of large format photographs in 1986, while traveling in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Beginning in the early 90s, he has committed his efforts to fine art photography. Jones has been featured in many solo and group exhibits, winning numerous awards and honors. His latest series, Booth says, “is almost painterly and it creates a visual moment that pulls the viewer in. The almost painterly pastel colors and soft motion gives one a calming feeling of peace that pulls the viewer in,” Booth also note about Jones’ exhibit. “The stunning color is all true to nature, altered only by the atmosphere created by the weather and light.”
The pieces captured with a digital camera, offer viewers a new perspective on the local scenery.
