Bay Street Theatre, a not-for-profit professional regional theater located in the Hamptons on the magnificent Long Wharf in Sag Harbor, recently announced its 2008 Target Mainstage Season that will include Alec Baldwin, Kate Burton and Charles Busch. The season will run June 3 through August 31 and tickets are on sale now at www.baystreet.org
First up will the playwright and legendary drag queen Charles Busch, who will star with his longtime friend Julie Halston in a revival of the playwrights “Shanghai Moon,” June 3rd through June 29th. The co-stars share an amazing history going back to “Vampire Lesbians of Sodom” and beyond. Together on stage they are just fabulous and last season they dazzled us under Cristopher Ashley’s guidance in a hysterical revival of Busch’s comedy “The Lady in question.” The sold out hit at Bay Street attracted a celebrity audience that included amongst others Paul McCartney, Jessica Parker, Mathew Broderick, Julie Andrews and Rene Zellweger, who even came twice. Busch is currently starring Off- Broadway in a colorful revival of his “Die Mommie Die” directed by long time collaborator Carl Andress at the New World Stages, a stunning of state of the art complex of Theaters housed in a multi level building on West 50th Street between 8th and 9th Avenues. Mr. Andress will put the stars through their paces at Bay Street in what promises to be a memorable show.
Next up is the marvelously witty Noel Coward classic “Private Lives” with Alec Baldwin and Kate Burton directed by Tony Award winner Jack Hofsiss, which will run July 8th – July 27th.
The final show “Ain’t Misbehavin” is a Broadway musical favorite that celebrates the music of the great Fats Waller opens August 5
