Final film in the Hampton International Film Festival (HIFF) SummerDocs series, Circus of Books, screens at Guild Hall in East Hampton

August 25, 2019: Circus of Books, directed by Rachel Mason, the final film in the HIFF SummerDocs Series, screened at Guild Hall in East Hampton on Saturday evening.  Afterwards, Alec Baldwin (HIFF Co-Chair) and David Nugent (HIFF Artistic Director) led a conversation with the film’s director Rachel Mason and her mother, Karen Mason, who is a central focus of the film. The screening at Guild Hall was preceded by a reception at the home of Charles and Mary Brock.

August 25, 2019: The 44th Hampton Classic Horse Show opened Sunday morning in Bridgehampton under breezy and cool conditions, welcoming horses and riders from near and far to this spectacular annual equestrian and social event. For the next seven days the Hampton Classic will host the highest levels of competition for hunter-jumper horses and riders of all ages and abilities. From the youngest leadline riders (ages 2+) all the way to Olympic and World Champions, the prestigious Hampton Classic Horse Show attracts the best of the best.

East Hampton’s Library 15th Annual Authors Night Benefit

August 11, 2019: On Saturday East Hampton’s Library hosted their 15th annual Authors Night to benefit the Library’s essential programs and services throughout the coming year. Press arrived around 4:30 and the authors started trickling in shorty after for a brief meet and greet with the press, before heading off to their assigned spots and their respective dinners afterwards. Honorary Founding Chair, Alec Baldwin, was one of the first to arrive along with Honorary Co-Chairs, Candace Bushnell, Douglas Brinkley, Dr. Ruth Westheimer, Robert A. Caro, Rosanne Cash, and Bridget Moynahan.

Sarna Lapine’s delightful staging of the Irving Berlin classic, infused with Blue Grass Melodies, lights up the stage at Bay Street Theater in Sag Harbor.

August 4, 2019: Sarna Lapine’s delightful staging of Irving Berlin’s beloved musical, Annie Get Your Gun, opened last night at Bay Street Theater, centered by a luminous Alexandra Socha as Annie. Every element of this streamlined production, infused with Blue Grass melodies, shines beautifully, lighting up the intimate stage in Sag Harbor with rollicking good fun. To hear these classics songs like, “There’s No Business Like Show Business,” “Anything You Can Do,” and “They Say It’s Wonderful,” sung with a Blue Grass Band that sits elevated at the back of the stage is simply wonderful and a unique surprise.

ARF Bow Wow Meow Ball

The Animal Rescue Fund of the Hamptons (ARF Hamptons) will hold its Bow Wow Meow Ball on Saturday, August 17, 2019. The event will honor fashion designer and entertainer Isaac Mizrahi with the Champion of Animals Award, a loyal supporter of ARF and a compassionate friend to animals in need.  The event will take place at the ARF Adoption Center in East Hampton to celebrate Isaac’s contributions and ARF’s life saving work. Tickets start at $750 and are available online at arfhamptons.org.

Julian Schnabel and Donna Karan honored at LongHouse Reserve Annual Summer Benefit with special performance by Laurie Anderson.

July 21, 2019: East Hampton’s LongHouse Reserve hosted their annual Summer Benefit on the grounds of their 16-acre sculpture garden with works by Buckminster Fuller, Yoko Ono and Willem de Kooning.  Acclaimed filmmaker and painter, Julian Schnabel, was given the LongHouse Award, and Ross Bleckner presented Donna Karan with the Leadership Award. The evening is an annual celebration of LongHouse with cocktails, dinner, and auctions. Artist Laurie Anderson created a special performance for the evening.

July 13, 2019: Tulla Booth Gallery, 66 Main Street in Sag Harbor, hosted an opening reception for a photography exhibit featuring Stephen Wilkes, Roberto Dutesco, Blair Seagram, Tulla Booth, and Dan Jones. What Better way to welcome the summer than to pay homage to the element that surrounds us, water, ocean, bay, lake or pond, is full of symbolism and metaphor. Each photographer’s evocative images make you feel closer to nature. Some are slightly calmer while others are very dramatic. Either way, they’re all quite exciting.

July 13, 2019: LTV, the East End public access television station, celebrated Summer with a very funny evening produced by Angela LaGreca, who also served as Emcee for the festivities.  The Super Salon Comedy at LTV at 75 Industrial Road in Wainscoitt featured acclaimed comedian Elayne Boosler, who was called “The First Lady of Standup Comedy” by Rolling Stone, along with Michele Balan and Bill McCuddy.

May 26, 2019: On Saturday the Animal Rescue Fund hosted the annual ARF Thrift Shop Designer Show House Cocktail Party & Sale to benefit the animals at ARF. The roomlike vignettes are inspired and arranged by guest designers from ARF Thrift Shop donations and the designers’ personal collections. May 4, 2019:  On Friday evening LTV Creative Director, Angela LaGreca, hosted and performed at LTV’s third creative artists salon, a unique night of comedy, music, film, scene readings, and chat, all to benefit LTV, the East End’s premier public access station and media center on Industrial Road in Wainscott.  Angela, an actress and comedian, also produces the monthly event by having talent from New York City mingle with local talent to try out new works in progress.
