Audiences love the history and anecdotes Siegel unearths. Among the shows whose tunes will be featured are 1943’s Bizet and Hammerstein’s Carmen Jones; Rodgers and Hammerstein’s groundbreaking Oklahoma!; Cole Porter’s Something for the Boys; and the 1943 edition of the revue Artists and Models. Musicals from 1951 will include Fain, Harburg, and Saidy’s hilarious Flahooley; Rodgers and Hammerstein’s treasure The King and I; Lerner and Loewe’s Paint Your Wagon; and Schwartz, Fields, Abbott, and Smith’s A Tree Grows in Brooklyn, based on Betty Smith’s classic best-seller.

Cast members include Oakley Boycott, Tony nominee Robert Cuccioli (Jekyll and Hyde), Darius de Haas(Shuffle Along; original Rent), Danny Gardner (2015 Dames at Sea revival), Laurel Harris (Wicked), Jill Paice (An American In Paris, Matilda, The 39 Steps, Curtains), Stephen DeRosa (Gary: A Sequel to Titus Andronicus, 2014 On the Town revival), and, the voice that needs no amplification, William Michals (2010 Emile, South Pacific revival).

Also featured will be the BBTY Chorus and Dance Troupe. Gardner is choreographing, with music direction by BBTY’s indomitable Ross Paterson and his Little Big Band.

Bank of America and the Edythe Kenner Foundation are longtime major sponsors of Broadway by the Year.
