Established in 2018, the Mary Tyler Moore Award is given out each year at Broadway Barks to an individual or group who has changed the lives of homeless animals in a way that encourages others to do the same. This year, the award was  given to one of the eight Broadway Barks founding shelters, BARC (Brooklyn Animal Resource Coalition) Shelter, for their long time passion about the healing qualities of companion animals.

Founded in 1987, Brooklyn Animal Resource Coalition (BARC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, no-kill, privately run animal shelter located in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. BARC’s mission is to provide a safe haven for abandoned animals and to find permanent loving homes for them.
