The Big Apple Circus annual premium event, their Holiday Season Family Benefit, last weekend, was a great fun for kids of all ages and a huge success. The benefit tickets help support BAC’s outreach programs, including the volunteer hospital Clown Care Unit and special events for families with special needs, such as the Circus of the Senses for the deaf and blind.

Before the Saturday matinee, ticket holders were treated to interactive antics and photo opts by BAC’s strolling Clown Care Unit, games and circus arts with circus-themed prizes, refreshments, snacks, hot dogs, popcorn, cotton candy, soda, passed hors d’oeuvres, and a pizza and meatball supper . Then, following the show, top contributors were treated to a dessert party with animal cookies, pastries, meet and greets with the artists, and gift bags.

Under Big Apple’s heated tent, there’re no bad seats as none are more than 50 feet from the ring. If you want to literally be in the show, go for the ringside seats.

BAC’s 37th season edition Metamorphosis, through January 11 in the big top in Lincoln Center’s Damrosch Park, is jammed with dazzling costumes, magical illusions, and daredevil artists — on trapeze, a spaceship, rolla bolla juggling, scaling new heights from a giant trampoline, and human juggling along with presentations of horses, llamas, camels, ponies, goats, and dogs.

To accommodate families with young children, BAC is offering a buy-one-ticket-get-one-free 75-minute, no intermission, show on Wednesdays at 11 A.M. On Thursdays at 6:30 there are full-length shows with specially-priced tickets that include a box supper.

Book all-inclusive tickets to the Big Apple Circus at the Damrosch Park box office [where there’re no service charges], on-line at www.bigapplecircus.org, or by calling (212) 962-5471 or (888) 541-3750. Tickets are $25 – $75; $95, center ring box and mezzanine; $135, premium center ring; and $175, premium center ring and VIP lounge with refreshments and program.
