The Anti-DefamationLeague & Broadway: Side By Side Against Hate For 100 Years
, commemorating the centennial of achievements by the human rights org through Broadway songs, is a one-night-only fund and awareness-raising gala on Monday at the historic Hudson Theatre at the Millennium Hotel.

Donors will attend a VIP reception beginning at 6 P.M., with dinner served at 7. The star-studded entertainment portion will begin at 8.

The event, produced by Carol Ostrow, written by Jonathan Tolins (Buyer & Cellar, Twilight of the Golds), and directed by award-winning music director Ted Sperling (South Pacific, Light in the Piazza), will honor Pulitzer Prize-, three-time Tony-, and Grammy-winning lyricist Sheldon Harnick with its Lifetime Achievement Award. The eight-time Tony nominee partnered with Jerry Bock for six of those nominations: Fiorello!, Fiddler on the Roof [two nominations], She Loves Me, The Apple Tree, and The Rothchilds. The Pulitzer was for Fiorello! The three wins: Fiddler and Fiorello! He and Bock’s first Broadway musical was 1958’s The Body Beautiful, but Harnick had contributed songs to three shows before that.

ADL’s Distinguished Leadership Award honore Tony-winning producer Harriet Newman Leve (War Horse, the 2010 La Cages Aux Folles revival, The Norman Conquests).

Performers include Jason Robert Brown, Carolee Carmello, Robert Cuccioli, Stephen DeRosa, André DeShields, Eden Espinosa, Randy Graff, Jesse Manocherian, Michael McElroy, Lillias White, and the Mark Stuart Dance Company. Harnick, celebrating his 90th birthday, will perform a duet with Graff.

"ADL is the most important organization fighting not only antiSemitism,
but also hate and bigotry toward all," says Ostrow. "What better way to those who’ve fought so valiantly through the years than through the legendary songs of Broadway which have held a mirror to humanity for as long as ADL has been around."
